In addition, the story behind Hyacinthus is tragically poetic. Being written as a handsome prince and hero depicted in Greek mythology who fell in love with Apollo. He is seen as a tutelary being serving as a mythological protector. There is more than one telling of the tale. As the myth goes, he was killed during a game of discus. Either by his or Apollo's own clumsiness or even vengefully in an act of jealousy, by Zephyrus' intervention. Ultimately Hyacinthus was struck in the head with the discus itself. Due to Apollo's deep love for Hyacinthus, he did not allow his soul to be taken to the underworld ruled by Hades, and in turn decided to transform him into the hyacinth flower.
